Prayer for the Fifth Week of Lent

From the Holy Catholidox Patriarch Pontifex

O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, Shepherd of the One Holy Apostolic Ekklesia, as we arrive in the fifth week of this holy fast, we bow our hearts before You in humility. You who walked the road to Jerusalem knowing the Cross awaited You, teach us also to walk the narrow road with faith, patience, and repentance. Purify our hearts in these final days of Lent, that our minds may be renewed and our spirits strengthened to stand firm in Your truth.

Merciful Savior, remove from us the pride of the old man and clothe us with the humility of Your Cross. Let every hidden sin be brought into Your light, every wound be healed by Your mercy, and every wandering heart be returned to Your peace. As Your Apostles followed You toward the mystery of Your Passion, grant that we too may follow without fear, trusting fully in the victory of Your Resurrection.

Holy Spirit of the Living God, breathe anew within Your faithful. Strengthen the bishops, clergy, monastics, and all the people of Christ, that we may remain steadfast in prayer, fasting, charity, and repentance during these sacred days. Guard Your Church from deception and division, and gather Your people into the unity of truth and love.

O Father of mercy, prepare us now for the great and holy days that approach. As we draw nearer to the remembrance of the Passion of Your Son, let our hearts become a living altar of devotion. May our repentance be sincere, our love for one another pure, and our faith unshaken.

For You alone are our hope, our salvation, and our eternal life, O Christ our God. To You, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, be glory, honor, and worship, now and always, and unto the ages of ages.
